Wakonda, I could not have found a more true and loyal friend.
We have walked the path together for many seasons, we have witnessed many winters, many springs we have watched the changing colors of the canyons and the forests from green to rust and back again.
We have traveled side by side down the rocky trails to the lowest lows, and back to the mountain tops, where we could look out over all that we had traveled together.
But now......, as we sit here today upon the mountain, we look back upon our trail and reminisce one last time.
For today, Grandfather has given us a fork, and we can no longer travel the same path.
Your path leads you to your mother and father and their mother and father and you will walk that path with them.
And I, I must remain on this path that leads down the mountain.
But I will be brave, as you have taught me to be, I will smile and wave a great greeting, as you are to join old friends and meet new.
I will be brave for you my friend I will hold my tears until you have rounded the bend.
For now though,..... let's just sit here and look over all that we have been. Then look into the wind, and know that eventually our paths will lead us to the same place.
Then we will again, sit upon the mountain and tell each other of our journeys and once again walk the path together.
