Law Offices of:

James W. Anable, Jr.
Animal Law, General Civil Law

Mr. Anable graduated Cum Laude from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University) in 1990.  He has been practicing Animal Law since 1995.  In addition to general civil law, areas of emphasis include representing clients accused of owning a dangerous or vicious dog, contracts between breeders and dog owners, and any other legal issues involving pets or companion animals.

Mr. Anable has served as the vice president and president of the Dangerous Ordinance Group (D.O.G.), a grass roots organization that formed out of frustration with the former City of Seattle's animal control ordinances.  The efforts of D.O.G. culminated in a revision to Seattle's animal control code.  He is also the past Secretary/Treasurer, and current "Executive Committee At-large member" of the Washington State Bar Association's Animal Law Section.  Mr. Anable is a member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund.  He is admitted to practice in the State of Washington, Western Washington Federal District Court, and the Ninth Circuit.

Animal law means different things to different people.  Mr. Anable is not an animal rights activist, and you should not assume that he supports activist actions of groups such as PETA or HSUS.  Mr. Anable has a love and compassion for all animals, but practices animal law from the perspective of owner's rights, not animal rights.  Mr. Anable is a current member of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, where he has served on the breed's national Rescue Committee.  He is also volunteers with Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue as a Doberman breed "co-representative."  He has owned Doberman Pinschers for over 30 years, and has exhibited in both conformation and obedience.  He is currently a member of both the Cascade Doberman Pinscher Club and the Puget Sound Doberman Pinscher Club.  Other interests include Datsun and Nissan sports cars, and he is the current Vice President of the Northwest Datsun Enthusiasts.

Mr. Anable offers a free initial telephone consultation.  The purpose of this initial consultation is to determine whether you need an attorney, and whether Mr. Anable is the right attorney for you.
